HATTIESBURG, MISS. — USA Yeast and Minn-Dak Yeast Co. will exchange technical information and offer production backup to each other in an alliance, Mike Lavallee, president of USA Yeast, said Sept. 7.
The companies serve different geographical areas, Mr. Lavallee said. Based in Hattiesburg, USA Yeast serves the southeast, Texas and parts of the lower Midwest. Mr. Lavallee and a group of investors organized USA Yeast in 2003 to manufacture and sell bakers yeast. Minn-Dak, based in Wahpeton, N.D., supplies fresh yeast marketed under the Dakota brand name to the baking industry.
"The sharing of production and efficiency techniques should be beneficial to both companies," Mr. Lavallee said. "The alliance, essentially, is to better serve our customers."
